London City Lionesses forward Danielle Carter has announced the news that she is pregnant.

The 31-year-old former England international striker took to her personal Instagram account to announce her news yesterday.

Carter is now expected to be sidelined for the majority of the 2024/2025 season. She will initially remain in light non-contact training with London City Lionesses while she will have the club’s full support throughout her pregnancy. The player remains under contract with The Pride until at least next summer.

Carter joined London City Lionesses on a free transfer last summer after leaving former club Brighton & Hove Albion. The player arrived at the club with an impressive CV which included a host of domestic honours from her time at former club Arsenal. The forward was an ever-present for London City Lionesses in the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2023/2024 while she scored three goals. While Carter won’t be in a position to pull on a London City Lionesses shirt any time soon, her experience will be vital off the pitch with the club’s youngsters being able to thrive from her know-how.

While London City Lionesses will be missing one experienced forward in Carter this season, they recently added another in the form of Swedish international attacker Kosovare Asllani.
