López claims Chivas 'complicated' his summer move to Pachuca | OneFootball

Javier Eduardo López has criticised how Chivas handled his transfer to Pachuca this summer.

‘Chofis’ was sold to Los Tuzos after his 18-month loan spell with MLS San Jose Earthquakes side had ended.

The attacker was frozen out by the Flock in late 2020 after he was present at a party where then team-mate Dieter Villalpando was accused of sexual abuse.

“My arrival in Pachuca was complicated by contract issues. They (Chivas) wanted to win nothing else, they didn’t think of me,” López told TUDN.

“I sent them a message to talk to them, because I was not to blame for anything at that time and they did not want to listen to me.

“It was when they kicked me out and I was in the United States, when I finished my tournament in the United States they came back to look for me, they wanted me to play in Chivas again.

“I told them, ‘how are you going to love me (on the team) if you told me that I would never play for Chivas again? I don’t understand you.'”

Despite the acrimony surrounding his departure, López has not ruled out returning to the club where he came up through the ranks.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t play again, but I’m just very calm here and grateful, very happy,” he said.

“When you don’t enjoy your work, what for? It’s what feeds you. If you’re not happy, better step aside.”

He became a very useful impact substitute for Pachuca during the Apertura, helping them finish in the top four and leave them waiting on results from this weekend’s Repechaje to learn who their quarter-final opponents will be.
