Lorenzo Pellegrini’s 2024/2025 season ends earlier than anticipated.
The Roma captain, out of action due to a muscle injury sustained in the days before the match against Atalanta, will not return to the field before the end of the season. But the worst may not be behind him yet.
According to ReteSport, the midfielder may need to undergo surgery to definitively resolve the muscle problem.
Instrumental tests have revealed a lesion to the right quadriceps, also involving the tendon component. A condition that is not easily resolved with rest alone: Roma’s medical staff is evaluating two options, namely a conservative path with targeted therapies or surgery for a safer but longer recovery.
The estimated recovery time is at least two months, barring complications. Pellegrini is therefore following in the footsteps of Paulo Dybala.
According to Il Messaggero, Pellegrini will undergo surgery this weekend in Finland, at Professor Leimpanen’s clinic: at this point the recovery time risks getting longer.
