According to L’Équipe, Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo will be out of action for up to six months, with four months at the lower end of the timeframe for a potential return to Ligue 1 action.
Lorient manager Régis Le Bris confirmed today that Les Merlus’ keeper will be on the treatment table for an extended period of time. It was already reported several days ago that the Swiss keeper would be withdrawn from World Cup duty in what would have been a first competitive tournament – yet it wasn’t to be with only weeks in the build up to Qatar 2022.
Mvogo went under operation for a knee injury sustained last weekend in Lorient’s match against Paris Saint-Germain during the build-up to Neymar’s opening goal within the first 10 minutes of the fixture. Le Bris announced that the operation went “perfectly well” and that the timeframe for a recovery for the Swiss would be from four to six months.
