Kicker and Sky Germany reports that Hertha Berlin midfielder Lucas Tousart is going to move across Berlin and join Union Berlin on a permanent deal.
The deal is still not 100% complete and certain areas still need to be clarified but it is looking likely that Tousart will move to Union for around €6-7m. The 26-year-old will add much-needed depth to Union’s midfield as they prepare to play in the Champions League.
Tousart is Hertha’s record signing having joined the club in 2020 for €25m from Lyon in France, the midfielder’s contract at the club expires next summer and selling the 26-year-old is likely the smartest move for Hertha to make, as they will be able to recoup a small portion of the fee.
In his three years at Hertha, Tousart played 96 times for Hertha as they faced relegation in all three of his seasons at the club. The 26-year-old was never able to deliver on the promise that came with his arrival to Hertha, mainly due to the fact that he joined the club at a turbulent time.
