Paris St-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi has hailed manager Luis Enrique as a ‘genius’ after the club reached the Champions League final.

PSG beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night to seal a 3-1 aggregate win in their semi-final tie. Goals from Fabian Ruiz and Hakimi did the damage as PSG underlined their status as favourites for the trophy.

The French champions have reached only their second final, as PSG chase a first-ever Champions League crown this season. They will face Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena on May 31st.

Luis Enrique has had a huge impact in Paris and is aiming to become just the seventh coach to lead two different clubs to the Champions League. Despite the loss of record goalscorer Kylian Mbappe last summer, Enrique has turned PSG into arguably Europe’s best team with a youthful side full of energy and intensity.

PSG have already won Ligue 1 and will face Reims in the French Cup final. The Parisians are two wins from a historic treble and Hakimi has called Enrique a ‘genius’ for his transformation of the team.

“You can see the atmosphere is magnificent. We have worked so hard for this moment, we’re very happy,” The Moroccan full-back said at full-time.

“We’ve worked hard to have this moment with our fans, our family and everyone who supported us. It was a difficult match and we’re very happy and proud to win.

“He (Enrique) has done a fantastic job. He has created a team, worked hard behind the scenes, he’s a genius.”
