Despite recent reports, it has now been revealed that Liverpool are not looking to open contract negotiations with Luis Diaz at this time.
It was reported on Wednesday by This Is Anfield that Diaz was in line for a new contract after his impressive start to the season.
The Colombian has started all three league games under Arne Slot, finding the back of the net three times and also providing one assist, meaning he is quickly asserting himself as one of the new manager's most important players.
Diaz has already broken records this season and, after a summer full of interest from abroad, it is easy to see why some Liverpool supporters may want the 27-year-old tied down with a new contract.

It has now been reported by Paul Gorst, of the Liverpool ECHO, that claims that a new contract for Diaz is imminent are “wide of the mark”.
The report also states that rumours suggesting the winger only earns £55,000 a week have been “rubbished”, and that Diaz’s wage reflects his importance to the Liverpool team.
Despite this development, when we asked fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, whether a contract extension for Diaz should be a priority, more than 80 per cent of responses said it should be.
The big issue for Liverpool at the moment is that captain Virgil van Dijk, vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold and talisman Mohamed Salah are all out of contract at the end of the current season.
New head coach Slot has consistently refused to discuss contract situations in public but, after Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United, Salah came out to say he hadn’t yet had any contact with the club over a new deal.
This has led to confusion amongst the Liverpool fan base and some people had questioned whether Diaz’s contract renewal should be a priority when such high-profile players’ deals are set to expire in June.
@AnfieldWatch Priority? Absolutely not. VVD, Trent and Salah's contracts are the utmost priorities.–
Regardless of whether he will be offered a new contract or not, Liverpool fans will be hoping that Diaz can continue his red hot form and help the Reds to extend their perfect Premier League start when they take on Nottingham Forest on 14 September.
