That is according to journalist Alan Nixon, who has reported via his Patreon account that multiple top flight clubs are showing an interest in the 24-year-old, who has already started both opening Championship games for the Hatters.

Featuring in a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth at Fratton Park yesterday, Doughty had to put in a hard shift defensively with, goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski being sent off on 31 minutes after two quick bookings.

Doughty commanded interest from Brentford and Crystal Palace earlier in the summer, but since then, links have gone cold.

But according to Nixon, the nippy wide player could once more be the subject of interest, although Town's price-tag could scare off any admirers.

Luton Town want £15 million for Alfie Doughty amid Premier League interest

Doughty was highly praised last season for his performances with the Hatters, being a stand-out in what was a joyous but disappointing season for Luton, with their return to the top flight after 31 years unfortunately ending in relegation.

Playing as a wing-back in Rob Edwards' system, Doughty has flourished down the left flank, and he is a very versatile individual who is adept at playing as a full-back but also a winger too.

The potential £15 million fee for Doughty does seem a high price, but for a Premier League outfit it is potentially miniscule for a home-grown player.

Doughty arrived at Kenilworth Road in the summer of 2022 - the season of Edwards' side's promotion back to the Premier League - and after impressing in the Championship, he continued that form into the Premier League, and is now attracting interest because of that.

Edwards hinted at the end of the Premier League season that his aim was to keep the majority of the squad together in the Championship

The Luton boss has succeeded thus far in doing so, retaining the services of Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo, who were another duo that impressed last season, but with Doughty rumours arising again, Edwards' wishes may not all come true.

A handful of player have departed, with Gabriel Osho leaving for French side AJ Auxerre and Ross Barkley returning to the Premier League with former club Aston Villa, but Edwards will be keen to not only keep the rest of his first-teamers, but add to them as well.

Alfie Doughty loss would be a huge blow for Luton Town

Luton could want such a fee for Doughty to potentially bring in more players after a disappointing opening two games back in the Championship, with only one point acquired out of six possible.

Losing the wing-back though would be a hammer-blow as the transfer window starts to reach its dying embers, and he's a player that you'd struggle to get a like-for-like for at this stage.

Doughty notched some impressive figures for Luton last season, with eight assists notched for the Bedfordshire outfit in the top flight - placing him among the very best when it came to providing for team-mates.

Rob Edwards' goal is to keep Doughty at Kenilworth Road, but with the transfer rumours coming back out, a sacrifice might have to be made by the Hatters in a bid to make sure they're strong in most areas of the pitch, given their lack of incomings so far this summer.
