Whilst Olympique Lyonnais have completed the high-profile signings of GIft Orban, Malick Fofana and now Nemanja Matić already this month, further signings are on the agenda as the club looks to avoid the drop to Ligue 2. According to Foot Mercato, Lyon are considering a move to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (28).

Højbjerg has found game time limited at Tottenham this season, making 20 appearances, but only five starts. Having lost his place in the starting XI under Ange Postecoglou, the Danish international, whose contract with Spurs expires in 2025, has been linked with a departure this month.

The Danish international wants regular gametime ahead of EURO 2024, and Lyon could provide that. OL are still targeting another midfielder, despite sealing the signature of Matić on Saturday. Højbjerg fits the bill. A French speaker with a lot of experience, Les Gones would have to spend considerably if they are to secure Højbjerg’s signature, but a move to the Groupama Stadium before the closure of the transfer window is a possibility.
