Lyon looking to bring in Cologne midfielder Ellyes Skhiri | OneFootball

Lyon may have missed out on Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes, but they may be in the running for a more veteran midfielder, Ellyes Skhiri. According to RMC, OL have turned their attention to the Tunisian international to fill their need in the midfield.

Head coach Laurent Blanc was unhappy with the direction of OL’s transfer strategy prior to the start of the transfer window. However, with more departures than incoming talent bringing in reinforcement at the defensive midfield position is crucial for OL’s sinking ship. In terms of what the French coach is looking for the Cologne midfielder fits the bill.

It is also being reported that Lyon are not the only team interested in the former Montpellier man. While OL are in advanced discussions with the player there are also other German clubs that are in the running. While in the Bundesliga he has played over 100 matches with Cologne and was even named the Tunisian Footballer of the Year in 2021.
