Stade Brestois will allow Mahdi Camara (26) to leave the club at the end of the season, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Camara, along with Pierre Lees-Melou, has been the driving force of Brest’s recent success. Whilst Lees-Melou took the spotlight last season, Camara has been at the fore of another push for European qualification this season. He has been even more important for les Ty-Zéfs, given Lees-Melou’s absence for long periods of the campaign.
Having featured in 40 games in all competitions this season already, Camara will be allowed to leave the club after sporting director Grégory Lorenzi gave the former France youth international assurances that the club would not get in the way of him taking on a new challenge.
Whilst the midfielder could remain in France, he currently favours a move abroad and, more specifically, to the Premier League. “England has always been a dream. It is fast and there are lots of duels. It corresponds with what I like in football,” he said back in October. It looks increasingly likely, therefore, that these will be his final weeks in Brittany before making a permanent transfer in the summer.
