Manchester City and Schalke have reportedly agreed a €13m fee for teenage Wales international Rabbi Matondo.

On Sunday, Sky Sports reported that the Premier League champions had rejected a €10m offer from the Bundesliga side for the 18-year-old.

But the Telegraph are now reporting that the two clubs have now reached a consensus, and Matondo is expected to officially swap Manchester for Gelsenkirchen in the coming days.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Tuesday evening’s trip to Newcastle, City boss Pep Guardiola claimed he didn’t know whether the young forward would be leaving the club before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Matondo is yet to make his senior debut for City but has already been capped at senior international level by Wales.

The starlet’s current City contract is set to expire in June 2020 and Borussia Mönchengladbach, RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim and AC Milan are all understood to have expressed an interest in signing him.

But it looks like he will be heading to Schalke and following in the footsteps of former City academy product Jadon Sancho and potentially Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi by becoming the latest British player to swap England for Germany.
