Manchester City have confirmed that forward Vivianne Miedema has undergone a successful knee surgery.
A press release shared this morning stated that the Dutchwoman has returned to the City Football Academy to begin her rehabilitation.
Manchester City have provided no further detail as to the reason for the surgery or how long Miedema might miss.
She has already missed three matches with what manager Gareth Taylor referred to as a “slight niggle,” and did not join the Dutch national team for the October international break.
She ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) playing for Arsenal in late 2022, missing much of the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns as she recovered.
Miedema moved to Manchester from Arsenal in the summer on a three-year deal and has enjoyed a fast start to life at the Joie Stadium, producing impressive performances in a 2-2 draw away to Arsenal and a home win over Barcelona. She has scored twice and assisted one goal in her first five appearances.
