Paris Saint-Germain initially took a short-term approach by loaning Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season. However, his future is now more certain, as the German club has secured him on a permanent transfer.

A new report sheds light on Simons’ attitude at Leipzig, suggesting PSG may have avoided a challenging situation. Still, with the Parisians holding a sell-on clause, his future transfer could impact them.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United may have the upper hand over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Simons has officially joined Leipzig on a permanent deal from PSG. The transfer is valued at €80 million, including add-ons, with an initial fee of €55 million and a sell-on clause.

Romano also noted that Simons’ contract runs until June 2027, though he could be on the move again as early as this summer, with several clubs already showing interest.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig has set an €80 million price tag for Simons if he decides to leave this summer.

A move is possible, but staying remains an option as well. Leipzig is looking to secure a significant profit after signing him from PSG last winter for €50 million plus add-ons.

Recently, the German media outlet SportBild claimed that the Dutchman has gotten a big head. Since his performances on the field haven’t been up to par, this is starting to create tension internally.
