Bunny Shaw was exceptional in the first half, giving Manchester City a 2-0 lead early on in the encounter.

It was then Shaw’s turn to become provider, when she guided Chloe Kelly’s pass into the path of Lauren Hemp as the Euro-winning Lioness slotted it home with ease.

And City made sure they advanced through to the next round with a clinical finish from Vicky Losada.

The game was complete in the 89th minute, when Deyna Castellanos scored her first goal in a City shirt from the penalty spot. In the dying seconds, Laura Coombs put in a low cross towards goal, which bounced off the ‘keeper and went in.

City will face Real Madrid over two legs in the next round to advance through to the group stage.

GonzĂĄlez the star as Real Madrid thump Sturm

Scorers: González 15′,52′, 62′, 67, Feller 37′, Athenea del Castillo 74′

Esther GonzĂĄlez opened the scoring for Real Madrid with a header that left the Sturm goalkeeper flat footed.

That goal was followed up by a sublime piece of skill in the box from GonzĂĄlez, who crossed for Naomie Feller to finish.

It was González who was on the scoresheet for Madrid’s third as she netted with another header.

GonzĂĄlez was the star of the show, and she completed her hat-trick on 62 minutes as Real Madrid made it 4-0, and added her fourth just five minutes later.

Madrid made it six with 15 minutes still to play, but this time the goal came from Athenea.

Alberto Toril’s side will face Manchester City women over two legs in September.

Juventus rout Racing Union in Turin

Scorers: Rosucci 11, Girelli 21′, Caruso 54′, Bonfantini 61′

Juventus raced ahead to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals an early strike from Martina Girucci and a header from Italy number 10 Cristiana Girelli.

The Bianconere made it 3-0 after half-time with a sublime free-kick from Arianna Caruso, her 40th goal for the club. Agnese Bonfantini made it four, and just five minutes later Juve had a penalty, yet Girelli crashed the spot-kick against the post.

Next up, Juventus will face Qiryat Gat on Sunday.

Rangers triumph away at FerencvĂĄros

Scorers: Danielsson 14′, 48′, Hay 89′; Fishley 68′

This was Rangers’ Champions League debut, and it only took 14 minutes for Finnish midfielder Jenny Danielsson to open the scoring thanks to a 14th minute penalty.

And it was Danielsson who doubled Rangers’ lead after half time, after cutting inside on the edge of the box and burying the strike into the bottom corner.

The home side pulled one back when Shameeka Fishley found the back of the net, but it was Rangers who rammed their advantage home when Brogan Hay struck late on.

Second half comeback secures Roma victory

Scorers: Glionna 12′, 59′, Lazaro 81′; Minami OG 20′

Roma’s women travelled to Petershill Park in Glasgow for their Champions League debut versus Glasgow City, and it was only 12 minutes before they opened their account. The home side found the equaliser courtesy of an unfortunate own goal from Moeka Minami.

Roma were piling on the pressure after the break, seeing one shot go just wide and one that clipped the crossbar.

The Giallorosse made that pressure count with a second goal from Benedetta Glionna just before the hour, and made it three thanks to Paloma Lazaro with ten minutes to go.

Swansea go down to PAOK

Scorers: Vlassopoulos 16′, 70′

Swansea went in 1-0 down at the break, but in truth the scoreline could’ve been higher as US-born Eva Vlassopoulos continued to fire shots at the Swansea goal.

And indeed it was Vlassopoulos who doubled the lead for PAOK as the Greek side continued to dominate and took the win.

PAOK will now face the winner of Rangers v FerencvĂĄros in the next round.

Before Chasity Grant rounded things off with a third.
