Forgotten Manchester United defender Alex Telles is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr keen on securing his services.

The Athletic claims that the Riyadh club have opened negotiations with Man United as they look to reunite the Brazilian with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Awwal Park.

Telles joined Man United from Porto in 2020 and spent two years at Old Trafford before falling out of favour under Erik ten Hag.

The 30-year-old full-back spent last season on loan at Sevilla and came back to haunt the Red Devils in last season’s Europa League.

Telles was part of Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side that knocked out Man United in the quarter-finals before going on to win the tournament with the La Liga giants.

The former Porto left-back made 38 appearances across all competitions for Los Nervionenses while chipping in three assists.

However, the club have no intentions of making his stay at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium permanent, with Mendilibar sanctioning an unprecedented squad overhaul.

Having returned from his eventful loan spell, Telles’ future still lies away from the Theatre of Dreams, with the player not in Ten Hag’s long-term plans.

The Dutch manager already has Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia locked in a battle for starting berth.

Rumour also has it that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for Inter left-back Federico Dimarco, although there has not been any new development on that front.

Man United are open to Telles’ departure, and Al-Nassr have offered the Brazilian an escape route amid reports that negotiations between both clubs are well underway.

Al-Nassr have only completed one signing this summer, with Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic joining the Riyadh club in a deal worth around €23 million.

The Saudi club are in the market for more high-profile signings from Europe as they look to build a squad strong enough to compete for the league title next season.
