Manchester United are interested in signing one of Atalanta’s best players during the summer transfer window, according to Tuttosport.

The Red Devils will likely reinforce the squad with multiple signings this summer. A new central midfielder could be one of the priorities.

Christian Eriksen is poised to leave when his contract expires on June 30. Casemiro could also be offloaded after falling out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.

Atalanta star Ederson was heavily linked with United last summer before they decided to sign Manuel Ugarte, but their interest could be renewed.

Juventus are eager to bring the Brazilian star to Turin, having previously signed Teun Koopmeiners from the Bergamo outfit last summer.

However, they are set to face ‘fierce’ competition from the Premier League. United have already managed to ‘test the waters’ and are ‘ready to play their cards’ to sign him.

Atalanta rejected a package worth £34 million from a Premier League club last summer, but they are prepared to consider his exit this time if they receive a ‘maxi-offer’.

Ederson to United speculation could be agent-driven

The Red Devils are set for a crucial summer transfer window. There could be multiple changes.

Amorim may want players who are suitable for his formation. The Portuguese has made it clear that he has no plans of changing his philosophy, and the players must adapt.

Eriksen and Casemiro are the leading candidates to depart. If the club manage to offload both players, they could save up to £26 million on their annual wage bill, which will assist in pursuing new signings.

United are currently unsure of their summer transfer budget. There could be a limited spending spree if the club don’t qualify for the Champions League next season.

A Europa League title with Champions League football could change the entire dynamic. Until then, United are unlikely to hold talks for any player over a summer move.

Ederson, valued at £42 million by Transfermarkt, would be a fabulous signing for the Red Devils given his tireless work rate, high pressing and defensive contributions.
