The Seagulls started their new campaign with some style, thrashing Everton 3-0.

With new boss Fabian Hurzeler in charge, Brighton showcased a potent mix of flair and precision in their opening game.

Kaoru Mitoma scored the first goal of Hurzeler’s era after the Japanese winger caught the Everton defence napping.

Mitoma had three shots on target and missed a big chance to score.

He will likely start tomorrow and could face United’s new signing Noussair Mazraoui.

The Moroccan star shone on his United debut vs Fulham. Erik ten Hag started him in his favoured right-back spot, forcing Diogo Dalot to move to the opposite side of the defence.

The £12 million-rated United signing was very tidy with the ball at his feet. He also made five ball recoveries and won all three of his ground duels.

Mitoma is a highly skilled winger who is known for his flair and speed. He is an efficient dribbler and can embarrass even elite defenders on his best days.

Mazraoui will need to demonstrate top-notch defensive skills to neutralise Mitoma’s attacking threats.

He needs to take a page out of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s book, who dominated the contest against the winger last year.

The Englishman had the better of him, forcing Mitoma to admit ‘complete defeat‘ in the battle.

Mazraoui must not let the 27-year-old out of his sight. He has to be careful not to overcommit while ensuring he does not give Mitoma the space to cut inside.
