Man United’s 2025 Preseason Tour: US Return Confirmed

Manchester United are set to return to the United States for their 2025 preseason preparations, marking their third consecutive summer in North America. As part of the Premier League Summer Series, Ruben Amorim’s squad will take on fellow English sides in three different American cities, reinforcing the club’s growing commitment to expanding its influence across the Atlantic.

Building Momentum Ahead of the New Season

Preseason has long been a crucial period for clubs, blending fitness preparation with commercial ambitions. United’s participation in the Premier League Summer Series is a clear nod to both. The tour provides an opportunity for the squad to fine-tune tactics and fitness ahead of the 2025/26 campaign while engaging with a rapidly expanding US-based fanbase.

Jason Wilcox, United’s technical director, highlighted the benefits of such a trip:

“The weeks leading up to a new Premier League season is always an exciting time for United players and fans alike, and we enjoy spending that period in the US, taking advantage of world-class training facilities and stadiums, and engaging with fans.”

This year, however, the fixtures take on a more domestic flavour. Gone are the high-profile encounters with European giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Instead, United will face Premier League rivals West Ham United (26 July), Bournemouth (30 July), and Everton (3 August), with matches scheduled at iconic NFL stadiums in New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta.

Expanding the Premier League’s US Influence

The growing influence of European football in North America is no longer a novelty. The Premier League has cultivated a dedicated following in the United States, and the demand for live fixtures continues to surge. While preseason friendlies once served as little more than fitness exercises, they are now powerful brand-building tools.

Other European leagues have also intensified their efforts to tap into the lucrative US market. Serie A has expressed interest in staging a competitive fixture stateside, while La Liga came close to hosting Barcelona’s clash with Atletico Madrid in Miami before the plan was abruptly abandoned.

For United, the summer tour is not just about preparation—it is about maintaining a presence in one of football’s fastest-growing markets. The 2025/26 Premier League season is set to kick off on 16 August, and by then, United’s players will have benefited from world-class facilities, top-level opposition, and, crucially, the fervent support of their American fanbase.
