The January transfer window marks Ruben Amorim’s first opportunity to shape Manchester United in his vision. While more significant changes are expected in the summer, reports suggest Amorim has already set his sights on a key target from Paris Saint-Germain.
Manuel Ugarte, one of PSG’s summer acquisitions, has thrived under Amorim before, highlighting their strong working relationship.
Now, rumors are circulating that Amorim is eager to bring Nuno Mendes, the talented full-back he coached at Sporting Lisbon, to Old Trafford.
However, Manchester United’s pursuit of Mendes seems to be facing obstacles. L’Équipe has reported that the player is reconsidering his future and is now more inclined to stay at PSG.
Mendes’ representatives have even hinted at the possibility of a contract extension, with Luis Enrique playing a key role in convincing the full-back to remain in Paris. As a result, Manchester United’s interest in Mendes seems to have cooled.

Lecce have turned down Manchester United’s second offer for Dorgu, as reported by TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, but discussions between the two clubs are still ongoing.
TBR Football also reported that the Red Devils submitted a new bid of £27 million (€33 million) after their initial offer of £22 million was rejected earlier in the week.
Lecce have made it clear throughout January that they are holding out for £33 million for Dorgu and are unwilling to lower that asking price.
