Manchester United are planning to sign multiple centre-backs during this summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils are already in advanced talks with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and they are optimistic of landing his signature in the near future.

The club are also aiming to sign another young central defender, and Lille have reportedly accepted their £42 million bid for teenager Leny Yoro.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are hopeful that Yoro will give them his commitment soon.

The club have discussed an initial five-year contract for the wonderkid. The 18-year-old is set to decide between United and Real Madrid in the next few days.

United have edge over Madrid in Yoro pursuit

The Red Devils have not announced any signings this summer, but they are showing plenty of ambition.

Joshua Zirkzee has already signed a long-term deal. It may not be long before De Ligt moves from Bayern to reunite with manager Erik ten Hag.

Yoro is another player at the top of their transfer wishlist. He is viewed as a ‘unique market opportunity, ‘ and the club appears to be in pole position to land him ahead of Madrid.

Los Blancos have confirmed they won’t pay more than £34m for Yoro, considering his present contract with Les Dogues expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Madrid are reluctant to raise their package. The club are also hopeful that Yoro will stay at Lille this summer so they can sign him on a pre-contract in January.

The ‘very ambitious‘ youngster is unlikely to run down his contract out of respect for his boyhood club. He is most likely to leave for a sizeable transfer fee.

Lille would ideally want a quick deal to find a suitable replacement. United should be optimistic about their chances of landing the teenager in the coming days.
