Manchester United should consider a move for Stade Brestois star Bradley Locko as they look to bolster the left-back department ahead of next season.
The Red Devils have had a difficult campaign due to defensive injuries. They have been hampered by the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Shaw has made just 15 appearances in all competitions this season. He has missed 36 games for the Mancunian giants with three separate muscular injuries.
Malacia has not played a single minute for the Red Devils this term, having failed to recover from a knee meniscus problem sustained last summer.
United need a new left-back ahead of next season and Locko would be a quality signing due to his potential and price tag.
The 22-year-old played a key part in Stade Brestois’ stunning Ligue 1 season. The French outfit qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
Locko was brilliant defensively with 6.9 duels and 2.9 tackles won per outing. He also made 6.5 recoveries on average alongside 1.7 clearances and 1.2 interceptions.
The Frenchman is among the top four Ligue 1 defenders when it comes to progressive carries. He averaged 19 passes in the opposition half last term with one accurate cross.
Locko’s strong defensive attributes, work rate and ability to make overlapping runs would make him a solid signing for United at a relatively affordable fee.
Despite qualifying for the Champions League, Stade Brestois are prepared to sell him for £17 million during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils need to be proactive in the pursuit with Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool monitoring him.
