Man Utd 'sense' possible Chelsea bid for Jadon Sancho | OneFootball

Manchester United remain open to selling winger Jadon Sancho, with some at the club reportedly believing Chelsea could make a late move for the 24-year-old.

Sancho has returned to the United squad after constructive talks with manager Erik ten Hag put to bed the pair's public feud from last season, but an ear infection saw him left out of the team for their season opener against Fulham.

While The Athletic stress that Sancho's absence against Fulham was simply down to injury, it is noted that United are still willing to offload the winger for the right price, while Sancho himself is keen to find a club who can offer him regular minutes.

Paris Saint-Germain had been touted as possible suitors but are not believed to have advanced their interest beyond an initial enquiry, while their €50m deal to sign Desire Doue from Rennes has effectively ended the speculation.

Now, however, some at United believe Chelsea could make a late move to sign Sancho as they look to bolster Enzo Maresca's forward line.

Importantly, there is no mention of any concrete interest from Chelsea, who are closing in on a deal to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix and remain keen to land Napoli's Victor Osimhen before the end of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea were previously linked with Sancho in a report from Germany earlier this month, but suggestions of a loan deal which would see the Blues pay the vast majority of Sancho's wages, which sit at over £250,000 per week, are wide of the mark given Chelsea's strict salary policy.

United are said to be looking for a fee of £40m to sell Sancho, which would represent a £33m loss on the £73m fee paid to lure him over from Borussia Dortmund three years ago.

Dortmund are known to be keen to re-sign Sancho but made it clear earlier this summer that United's asking price is far too high for their liking.
