Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for Morgan Rogers who has been one of Aston Villa’s breakout stars this season.

The 22-year-old is a youth product of West Bromwich Albion who was poached by Manchester City. After spending several years with the Cityzens, he was sold to Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023. However, his stint with the Championship club proved short-lived, as Aston Villa decided to splash around £8 million for his services in January 2024.

Since then, the attacking midfielder has been growing from strength to strength, with his transfer value soaring (reaching €50 million as estimated by Transfermarkt).

This season, Rogers has thus far contributed with 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, cementing himself as an invaluable piece in Unai Emery’s tactical jigsaw. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed his powerful ‘displays’, noting his ability to drive forward with the ball.

Naturally, the England international’s sensational campaign has attracted many suitors, including Man Utd.

According to Fichajes, Ruben Amorim has identified Rogers has a suitable profile for his tactical system. He would be able to play as one of the two attacking midfielders behind the lone striker.

With the left-footed Amad Diallo occupying a spot on the right, the Aston Villa man would fit on the left side of the attacking trident.

Man Utd would have to overcome stern competition from the likes of Man City and Liverpool, while the Villains are said to be hellbent on maintaining the player’s services.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils might have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old signed for Villa in January on loan with an option to buy for £40 million.

Despite the player’s impressive displays, the Champions League boys are said to be reluctant to splash this figure.

But perhaps Man Utd could offer their academy product (who has no place with Amorim) plus cash for Rogers’ services, in a deal that could suit all parties, albeit swap deals tend to be complicated affairs.
