The FA have confirmed that Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo is one of three players to withdraw from the England senior squad for the October internationals.
Mainoo has been joined by Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White in withdrawing from the squad to face Greece and Finland in the UEFA Nations League.
The young midfielder has been an integral part of Erik ten Hag's plans at club level thus far this season, stating all seven of Man Utd's Premier League games. Mainoo was once again in the starting lineup over the weekend, playing 85 minutes of the rather dour draw with Aston Villa in the west midlands - a draw that consigned Man Utd to their worst ever start to a Premier League season.
In that same game, defender Konsa was subbed off after just 12 minutes after pulling up with an injury.
During the other 2pm kick-off in the Premier League on Sunday, Gibbs-White played 76 minutes of Nottingham Forest's hard fought draw with Chelsea before hobbling off with an ailment picked up when he saw an effort on goal be charged down.
The news comes as a bitter blow to all three players, as the trio would have been hoping to impress current interim boss Lee Carsley - who is the heavy favourite to take the role on a permanent basis.
Mainoo had been a key player under ex-manager Gareth Southgate during Euro 2024, being trusted to start the final of the tournament in Germany. The midfielder was in the starting lineup for Carsley's first game in charge too, playing 77 minutes of the 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
Gibbs-White earned his first ever England in said win too, coming off the bench to replace Mainoo late in the game.
Konsa, on the other hand, started the second game of Carsley's tenure in charge, playing an hour of the comfortable win over Finland at Wembley Stadium.
In a statement released on the FA's website, it was confirmed that players will not be called up to replace Mainoo, Gibbs-White or Konsa in the squad.
