Belenenses manager Petit has revealed “a good offer” has been made for West Bromwich Albion target Mateo Cassierra, who will be allowed to leave the club this summer.
Reports earlier this month revealed that Albion had opened negotiations with the Portuguese club over the signing of the Colombian striker.
The Baggies aren’t the only club keen it seems, with clubs in Turkey, Greece, and Russia also said to be interested in the 24-year-old, who is now in the final year of his contract.
Speaking to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Petit has revealed that a good offer has now been made for Cassierra and hinted that his exit was close.
He said: “We know about Cassierra’s quality but we know Portuguese football also lives on money.
“To buy some players, we have to sell others.
“It’s a good offer for Cassierra, who ends his contract at the end of the season. If it’s good for the team, the club and the player – and if we can get other players – he deserves the opportunity to go to another club and earn his money.”
The Colombian joined Belenenses from Ajax in September 2019, bringing his three years in the Dutch capital to an end after signing in a multi-million deal from Deportivo Cali.
He’s scored 15 times for the club since, including 11 in 36 games last term.

The Verdict
It seems a good offer has been made for Cassierra, though at this point it’s unclear whether it has been made by Albion or the other clubs in pursuit.
The 24-year-old would certainly seem to fit the bill for the Baggies, who are in need of a powerful central striker.
We saw Daryl Dike thrive in Valerien Ismael’s system last term and signing a similar player before the window closes would boost his new club’s promotion hopes this season.
The 24-year-old certainly has the height to cause opposition defences problems but his close control is also excellent, which should allow him to bring other players into the game.
It could well be the ideal signing and it seems as though his current club are ready to let him leave.
