The return of the UEFA Champions League at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium against Inter will not feature the club’s traditional sky blue home shirt, it has been announced.

Manchester City will return from the first international break of the new 2024/25 season with a blockbuster run of matches until their next round of national team fixtures, starting with a home meeting against Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.

The fixture calendar will then intensify with each gameweek, as Manchester City take on their revamped European schedule from next week with a meeting against Inter before Arsenal visit the Etihad Stadium in a mouthwatering English top-flight clash.

But it is the first European meeting that will feature a controversial change for Manchester City supporters, after the club announced this week that the 2023 Champions of Europe will not be wearing their traditional sky blue home shirt for the meeting.

It comes as the Premier League champions reveal their fourth and final on-field shirt of the new season, following on from an eye-catching run of designs released over the course of the summer, including a retro feel to the club’s 2024/25 away kit, inspired by the 1998/99 season.

Now, as announced by Manchester City on Thursday morning, Pep Guardiola’s players will wear their brand new fourth kit – officially branded as the ‘Definitely City kit’ – exclusively in select European fixtures.

The Definitely City kit will debut on the pitch on Wednesday 18 September at the Etihad Stadium when Manchester City take on Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, and will continue to be worn in select European away fixtures for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Manchester City’s latest release marks the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ iconic album Definitely Maybe, with the special-edition kit drawing inspiration from the album cover and featuring a bold aesthetic paying tribute to the band and the city of Manchester.

In terms of colour scheme, the shirt features a light straw base colour with bold blue side panels and sleeves with subtle poppy pink detailing on the cuffs and panels on the jersey, whilst there are also intricate outlines of marine blue supersonic waves.

The kit is part of the Definitely City collection, all designed in collaboration with Noel Gallagher.
