Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players will be kitted out in the fashionwear of a new apparel brand for their UEFA Champions League away trips from next season.

The club’s latest partnership announcement simultaneously brings an end to their long-standing agreement with Dsquared2, who catered for Manchester City’s away trips in European competition and other notable fixtures for several years.

Collaborations with Dsquared2 certainly divided opinion over the years of their working partnership, with Manchester City’s players wearing an unusual cardigan and jeans outfit combination during last season’s away trips during the Champions League group stage.

That outfit, notably worn prior to their clash with BSC Young Boys at the Wankdorf Stadium in Switzerland, also included personalised cardigans with each player’s name and number on the back.

Speaking upon spotting the outfits, TNT Sports’ Joe Cole said, “Unacceptable. The gaffer got out first and he looked like the milk tray man, looks brilliant. I don’t care how many trebles you win, you’ve got to sort the gear out. It’s horrendous.”

Former Manchester City defender and club ambassador Joleon Lescott also admitted as part of the same television broadcast, “When it doesn’t look good on Jack Grealish, then I’m like yeah.”

But now, for those who were not of a Dsquared2 persuasion when it came to Manchester City’s travel gear, there is set to be a huge sigh of relief as the club have announced a new agreement for their European trips and other fixtures from the start of the forthcoming season.

As announced by Manchester City in an official club statement this week, the Premier League champions have finalised a new ‘multi-year partnership’ with iconic Italian fashion brand, C.P. Company.

As part of C.P. Company’s new role as ‘Official Style Fashionwear Partner’ of the Manchester City men’s first team, the apparel brand will design an ‘exclusive range of fashionwear’ to be worn exclusively by Pep Guardiola’s first team players, alongside coaching staff and executive management when travelling for UEFA Champions League away fixtures in particular.

Manchester City have also announced that throughout the duration of the partnership, C.P. Company will also support City in the Community’s Healthy Goals programme, which will see the renovation of three community and school pitches during that time.

Vice President Global Partnership Sales at City Football Group, Kaitlyn Beale said as part of Manchester City’s statement, “We’re pleased to announce a new partnership with C.P. Company today.

“Both Manchester City and the Italian brand play a key role in football culture in the UK and beyond, with passionate followers and a shared commitment to embracing new trends and innovation. We’re looking forward to working with C.P. Company over the coming seasons.”

President of C.P. Company, Lorenzo Osti, went on to explain, “Our partnership represents an exciting journey from Bologna to Manchester, where two visions, inspired by the same values, harmoniously merge. The aesthetic symbolism of the C.P. Company Goggle Jacket has become an icon for football fans, a project where sporting aspiration embraces and keeps its roots alive.”
