Como wish to extend Maximo Perrone’s loan move from Manchester City for another year and keep hold of the Argentine midfielder for the 2025-26 season, as per a new report.
City signed Perrone from Velez Sarsfield in the summer of 2023 and subsequently sent the holding midfielder on loan to Las Palmas in Spain for the 2023-24 campaign, where the 22-year-old made 30 appearances for the La Liga outfit.
Perrone returned to Manchester last summer and with it being clear there was no place for him in Pep Guardiola’s first-team ranks, the 2023 treble winners sanctioned a loan for Perrone to join Cesc Fabregas’ Como in Italy.
Como retain an option to extend Perrone’s loan deal by another year and after an impressive year under Guardiola’s former player at Barcelona – City could look to loan Perrone out for a further year to progress his development in the Serie A.
Manchester City have a strong crop of options in defensive midfield and with Ballon d’Or winner Rodri nearing a return from a long-term ACL injury, it isn’t going to get any easier to get into Guardiola’s midfield next season.
Mateo Kovacic has enjoyed the best goalscoring season his career this term, Ilkay Gundogan is expected to stay on at Manchester City next season and Guardiola could also field man-of-the-moment and makeshift left-back Nico O’Reilly in his natural midfield position next season.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb and relayed by Sport Witness, Como are looking to extend Perrone’s loan in Italy by a further year as the young Argentine attracts interest from Inter Milan ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
There is a sense of confidence at Como that Perrone will not return to Manchester in the summer and all things considered, Manchester City are likely to be on board with another year of regular first-team football for their midfielder.
