The brass at Premier League champions Manchester City are giving serious consideration to a winter offer for Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi.
That’s according to Diario AS, citing The Times, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest ongoings behind the scenes in Manchester.
Amid what has proven nothing short of a disastrous recent run of form for Pep Guardiola’s City, the board at The Etihad are ready to leap into action mid-season.
Specifically, the Sky Blues are on the lookout for a replacement for Rodri, at the base of the club’s midfield.
This of course comes with the Spanish international, for his part fresh off being named the latest Ballon d’Or winner, having been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a serious knee injury.
Amid their search for a January stand-in, the transfer team at City have in turn earmarked two leading targets.
As per a report from AS:
‘The Times reports that the Citizens will give absolute priority to signing a positional midfielder in January, with two notable options being Martin Zubimendi (25, Real Sociedad) and Bruno Guimarães (27, Newcastle).’
