In a recent report, Manchester Evening News has revealed that Manchester City are set to seal a January move for FK Partizan Belgrade winger Filip Stevanovic. It is expected that the Mancunian outfit will have to pay around £6m to secure the Serbian starlet’s signature when the transfer window reopens this winter (via Manchester Evening News).

Stevanovic’s Remarkable Rise In Serbian Football

The two-time Serbian Under-19 international has made a name for himself back in his homeland after breaking out as a first-team starter for Partizan last year. He has enjoyed a majestic rise in Serbian football over the past 18 months, which explains why Man City are eager to complete his capture during the January transfer period.

Stevanovic has made a total of 53 senior appearances for the Serbian outfit, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions while picking up five assists across all competitions. Despite his incredible emergence at Belgrade recently, the talented teenager still has a long way to go before he is ready to feature regularly at the highest level. Hence, Pep Guardiola would have to be patient with the Serbian youngster’s development if he ends up getting the deal over the line this winter.

The 18-year-old has already shown some signs of promise during his young career, but he is yet to test himself outside the Serbian SuperLiga. Only time will tell whether he can cope well with the physical demands of English football.

What Are The Serbian Prospect’s Best Attributes?

Stevanovic has shown excellent balance when dribbling with the ball and is agile enough to get past his marker with ease out on the flanks. He can also pass the ball relatively well and has even got the eye to play a killer pass in the offensive end of the field.

The Serbian whizkid works hard for his side and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals from the wide areas. However, he is still quite raw and has got a long way to go before he is ready to prove himself in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Is Stevanovic A Prospect For The Future?

At 18, Stevanovic has established himself amongst the most promising young wingers in Serbia, so he will be a player to keep an eye on, especially if he ends up making a switch to the Etihad Stadium in January. He will be an ideal addition to Man City’s world-class academy and could be nurtured into a top talent by Guardiola as long as he can show signs of progress with each season. However, Stevanovic would struggle to get any minutes in Guardiola’s first-team as he is still too inexperienced to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
