Manchester City are planning to part ways with Ederson (31) and replace him with Diogo Costa (25) from FC Porto, according to a report from Foot Mercato this Monday. The Cityzens have already started a massive squad overhaul with the winter arrivals of centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov, midfielder Nico Gonzalez and striker Omar Marmoush for a combined €200m. The Premier League champions reportedly intend to continue to spend big this summer to right the wrongs in Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.
The goalkeeper situation will be thoroughly assessed as the Spaniard notably picked Stefan Ortega instead of Ederson in this campaign. Both the German and the Brazilian goalkeepers were criticized for their performances, which prompted City to identify reinforcement between the sticks. Foot Mercato understands that Portugal international Diogo Costa is the No. 1 priority, so much so that initial contacts have taken place for the 25-year-old to join the Etihad Stadium as early as next summer.
