Manchester United have added RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike to their options for the summer transfer window.
Ruben Amorim wants to bring in a centre-forward having become frustrated with the form of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. The under-performing duo have combined for just six Premier League goals this season.
Hojlund’s form has concerned with the 21-year-old having regressed after a positive debut campaign at Old Trafford. Zirkzee, meanwhile, has looked more comfortable in a deeper role since his arrival from Bologna last summer.
Amorim continues to be heavily linked with a reunion with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish striker has surpassed 40 goals in each of the last two campaigns with the Portuguese side. However, United will face strong competition from Europe’s top teams for Gyokeres, while a potential lack of Champions League football could hinder hopes of a deal.
United have created a shortlist of potential alternatives. According to Sky Germany, Sesko and Ekitike are both viewed as options. Sesko is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, having scored 35 times in 78 appearances since joining Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023.
The 21-year-old was subject of approaches from Arsenal and Chelsea last summer before penning a new deal at Leipzig.
Ekitike has hit the ground running since turning his loan at Eintracht Frankfurt into a permanent move.
After struggling for regular minutes at Paris Saint-Germain, the 22-year-old has flourished in the Bundesliga. He has scored 19 goals in all competitions for a Frankfurt side pushing for Champions League qualification.
