Manchester United and Arsenal are being linked with a shock move for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane.

Ruben Amorim has hardly got his foot in the door as head coach and United are already being linked with Player X, Y and Z.

These reports are timely since Sane, who has gained Premier League experience from his time at Man City, as he’s heading towards the end of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

As a result, Bayern Munich run the risk of losing one of their most talented players on a free next summer. That would be music to the ears of his potential suitors.

Moreover, the Bundesliga giants may be forced to accept offers for Sane in January but for a price significantly below his true market value.

According to Bild in Germany, there is interest from United as well as Arsenal, with both Premier League sides looking to strengthen their attacking options on the cheap if possible.

The report – backed up by Christian Falk – explains that Sane has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern since Vincent Kompany became manager.

Sane is competing for a place in the team with players such as Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and summer signing Michael Olise.

This could turn out to be a blessing for United or Arsenal if they can sign a talented player like Sane on a Bosman.

Do Manchester United need a Leroy Sane type player?

The 28-year-old was a threat during his last spell in England with City, but time has moved on and INEOS appear to be prioritising younger targets in the market.

That said, United may find it difficult to turn down the opportunity to sign Sane on a free.

It goes without saying that Sane would be an upgrade on Antony, but there is no guarantee that he would start over Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho.

The Reds also have Amad Diallo’s development to consider.

I suspect Sane will be offered around to several clubs in January if an agreement is not reached between Bayern and his representatives.
