Manchester United have suffered a devastating blow ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Red Devils hero, Amad Diallo, could miss the rest of the season after picking up a nasty injury in training.

The 22-year-old attacker has picked up an ankle ligament injury and he is expected to be out for a long time.

Diallo played a bit-part role under Erik ten Hag, but he has emerged as a key player under Ruben Amorim. His impressive form has seen him earn a new five-and-a-half-year contract worth around £100,000-a-week.

The versatile attacker has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 36 appearances in all competitions this season for Man Utd, and  losing him at this crucial juncture of the season comes as a major setback for the Red Devils.

Three midfielders – Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer picked up injuries in training – and they could be absent for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The decision to send both Marcus Rashford and Antony on loan to Aston Villa and Real Betis for the rest of the campaign could come back to haunt the Red Devils.

Put simply, Amorim has been left with limited options in the attacking areas. Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho remain major attacking options for United, and Amorim might have to turn towards academy talents to fill the numbers.

If Amorim misses a huge chunk of the second half of the season, it could ruin United’s campaign, as fans can’t help but wonder how would the club cope with his absence.

Christian Eriksen or Casemiro is likely to play in midfield at Spurs, although teenager Jack Moorhouse has travelled to London and is set to be in the squad for the first time.
