The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 18-year-old has grown within the Manchester United academy system and the player now finds herself on the fringes of the first team. Newell spent pre-season with the senior squad having impressed Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner.
Newell is still awaiting her competitive Manchester United debut but the player was named in The Red Devils’ matchday squad for last season’s Women’s League Cup group stage fixture against Everton at the Leigh Sports Village.
The defender was dual-registered with Manchester United last season as well as being contracted to childhood club West Bromwich Albion. She spent almost a decade with the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division side and she first represented The Baggies at senior level as a 16-year-old.
On the international stage, Newell is an England Under-19 international.
Newell is now solely a Manchester United player after leaving former club West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season. The player will be hoping to push for first team minutes with The Red Devils in the coming years.
