Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner has confirmed that forward Leah Galton will be sidelined all summer with her ankle injury.

The 29-year-old sustained her injury in Manchester United’s 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend.

Galton’s injury has now been fully-assessed by the Manchester United medical team and it has been reported that the player will be sidelined throughout the summer. The Red Devils are hoping to have Galton fit for the start of next season.

Commenting on Galton’s injury after Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea at Old Trafford yesterday, head coach Skinner said “Leah’s sustained an ankle injury in that game [last weekend’s FA Cup final]. She’ll be out for a few months while we assess it.

“For the injury, it’s actually in a positive place on the level and spectrum of it but she’ll miss out up until probably pre-season and then hopefully get her back for the start of the season.”

Galton has been an important player for Manchester United once again this season. She has made 18 appearances for The Red Devils in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored two goals.
