Joshua Zirkzee trained with the Manchester United squad on Tuesday morning, raising the prospect of him making a shock return for the Europa League final.

The striker has been on the sidelines since limping off against Newcastle a month ago with a hamstring injury.

Speaking at the time, Ruben Amorim made it clear that the club did not expect to have Zirkzee available again before the end of the season.

"He will not play again this season, let's prepare him for the next one,” the United boss said.

However, Zirkzee was involved with his team-mates at Carrington, a day out from the Europa League final against Tottenham in Bilbao.

Leny Yoro and Diogo Dalot also trained, bolstering Amorim’s options before the squad fly out to Spain later on Tuesday.

Dalot has not played since the defeat to Wolves last month and there were initially fears that a calf injury could bring a premature end to his season, but he could now be in contention to play some role in the final.

Yoro, meanwhile, went off with a foot injury against West Ham earlier this month and was left out of the defeat to Chelsea on Friday night.

Matthijs de Ligt did individual work away from the main group and is not expected to be fit in time to make the squad for the final, but he will travel to Bilbao.

Amorim will provide an update on his squad on Tuesday afternoon when he gives his final press conference before the showdown with Spurs.
