Manchester United are reportedly holding negotiations with Greek side Panathinaikos over a move for Facundo Pellistri.

Pellistri, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Granada, is not thought to be in United’s long-term plans and he’s one of the players the club is keen to sell in the event that good offers are made for him.

At Granada, he registered two goals and as many assists in 15 La Liga appearances.

Earlier this month, Pellistri’s agent Edgardo Lasalvia did an interview with Radio Carve Deportiva (via Debate Uruguay) and relayed that two clubs were keen on signing his client.

Lasalvia named Real Valladolid and Panathinaikos as the two outfits keen on adding the Uruguayan to their ranks this summer.

Pellistri’s representative said, “We are going to wait for the end of the Copa América to see the future of each one. For Pellistri I had contacts from Panathinaikos and Real Valladolid.”

The 22-year-old has also previously been linked to Corinthians, Flamengo, Besiktas and Boca Juniors.

Journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has now given an update on Pellistri’s transfer situation, potentially hinting at where he could be playing his football next season.

Chorianopoulos wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Panathinaikos are in talks with Manchester United to sign Facundo Pellistri.”

“Greece is not player’s priority but it’s an open case.”

Last term, Panathinaikos finished in fourth place in the regular season as well as in the play-off.

In May, Panathinaikos beat Aris in the Greek Cup final to win the domestic competition for the 20th time in their club history.
