Manchester United have lined up Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a potential long-term replacement for Casemiro.
Casemiro is free to leave Manchester United as the Red Devils look to offload the 32-year-old this month. The Brazilian’s decline in performances and high wages have meant United are keen to sell in their bid to raise funds for new arrivals.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ruben Amorim is targeting Tchouameni as an addition to his midfield. Real Madrid are understood to be open to the exit of the France international should a significant offer arrive.
Interest in Tchouameni is high, with Liverpool and Chelsea each keeping an eye on his situation at the Bernabeu. Liverpool are long-time suitors of the 24-year-old and missed out to Real Madrid in the race to sign the midfielder in 2022.
Tchouameni signed for the Spanish champions from Monaco for an initial fee of €80m and has since made 110 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has won a wealth of honours with Los Blancos, including a La Liga and Champions League double last season.
However, Real Madrid are open to big bids for the player who has struggled with consistency. This season, he has been asked to deputise in central defence amid injury problems in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
An approach from Manchester United will hinge on whether Casemiro can be offloaded, amid interest from the Saudi Pro League. The veteran is one of several players who United are ready to invite offers for, alongside Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof.
