FC Barcelona were very interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United during the January transfer window.
However, failure to offload any player meant that there was no Fair Play margin to bring in the Englishman on loan for the rest of the season.
Having missed out on the dream transfer, Rashford remains ‘desperate’ to sign for the Catalan giants in the summer transfer window.
Barça, for their part, also have them on their agenda as they value his versatility and experience.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have put a £40 million price tag on Rashford as they intend to sell him permanently in the summer.
Following his failed move to Barcelona in January, the England forward signed for Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season and has fared decently for Unai Emery’s side.

So, a permanent parting of ways seems very much likely and United have set an asking price of £40 million for the 27-year-old attacker.
Rashford still has three years left on his massive £315,000-a-week contract with the Red Devils – a salary that Barcelona will most certainly be unable to match.
Reports in Spanish media have suggested that the forward would be willing to take a pay cut to move to Barça.
However, the aforementioned outlet claims that sources close to the player have revealed he would not be willing to accept a salary reduction, which complicates matters.
One possibility would be for Manchester United to continue paying a share of his wages to cover the difference for the remaining three years of his contract.
But as things stand a move to Barcelona appears very difficult owing to the £40 million transfer fee and his steep wages.
