The interim boss will be reluctant to make too many changes
Ruud van Nistelrooy continues his spell as interim Manchester United manager with a tough test against Chelsea in the Premier League.
The club legend has stepped up following Erik ten Hag’s sacking while the club finalise a deal to appoint Ruben Amorim, who is expected to take charge in November.
That leaves Van Nistelrooy to take charge of the visit of the Blues, having kicked off his spell in the dugout with a 5-2 win over a much-changed Leicester City side in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Sunday poses a far tougher test, but may not see too many changes. The likes of Altay Bayındır, Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee should make way - for Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui and Rasmus Hojlund - but otherwise the bulk of the team could remain the same.
Casemiro scored twice, including a stunning opener, while Bruno Fernandes notched a brace of his own either side after Alejandro Garnacho had added another in the rout against the Foxes, and all three should remain.
Manuel Ugarte may face his position under threat by Christian Eriksen, while Amad Diallo will hope for more minutes.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Ugarte, Fernandes; Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho.
Injured: Mainoo, Maguire, Yoro, Shaw, Malacia, Mount, Antony
Time and date: 4.30pm GMT on Sunday, November 3, 2024
