Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has signed a new contract with the north London club.
Joining Arsenal in May 2019 from Bayern Munich, Zinsberger has made a total of 113 appearances, achieving 49 clean sheets.
She played a pivotal tole in helping the Gunners win the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup in the 2022/23 season. She also won the WSL Golden Glove award in the 2021/22 campaign after recording 13 clean sheets in 22 games.
Zinsberger explained she remains ‘motivated to continue to develop’ as a goalkeeper, but to also ‘grow as a person’, stating Arsenal ‘is the right place’ for her to do that.
“When I step out onto the pitch, hearing the crowd cheering us on, it’s a feeling I can’t describe,” she said. “The passion our supporters bring lifts us up and together we can go so far.”
Head coach Jonas Eidevall described Zinsberger as ‘one of the best goalkeepers in the world’. He said: “She deserves this new contract and I know she shares the ambitions we have here. We want to compete for every title we can and Manu will play a big role in us achieving that.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley added: “We’re delighted to have agreed to a new contract with Manu to continue her journey here at Arsenal. Manu has been such an important part of this team since joining us in 2019, delivering brilliant performances and showing true passion on the pitch.”
Zinsberger and the Gunners will face Everton at Meadow Park when they return to WSL action on Saturday, January 20.
