FC Barcelona climbed up to the second spot in the UEFA Champions League table as they won their match against Borussia Dortmund last night with a 3-2 scoreline.

The fearsome Signal Iduna Park did not really faze the Catalans’ young players, and this was particularly the case with the midfielder Marc Casadó, as he put in another impressive shift as the pivot, contributing both to the defense and offense.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the La Masia graduate also talked to the media after the game, and talked about how his team was able to get a victory in this game:

“We knew we were coming to a very difficult ground. With the equalizer, both the team and the fans gained momentum, and it became very intense. We played the way we intended and capitalized on counterattacks to win the match.”

The midfielder also highlighted the team’s good results in the UCL despite struggling in La Liga: “These three points were very important for the standings. Recent league matches haven’t gone as we wanted, but we’re doing very well in the Champions League with five consecutive victories.”

Overall, Casado expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance throughout the match: “In the first half, we had more control, and we were also more effective. The team showed resilience in responding to their goals.”

The young Barcelona pivot also spoke highly of Pedri, calling him a ‘world-class’ player:

“Pedri is a world-class player, and it’s incredible to play alongside him. I feel very comfortable playing with him… [I am] Trying to match him a little (laughs).”

Although Pedri didn’t find the back of the net or register any direct assists, his influence against Borussia Dortmund was undeniable, as it has been throughout the season.

The 22-year-old from the Canary Islands not only dictated the tempo alongside Marc Casadó but also played a pivotal role in the buildup to two of the team’s three goals.

With this game, Casadó once again showed his ability to remain calm despite facing one of the bigger teams in Europe in their own home ground. He has proven to be a key midfielder for Hansi Flick up to now, and hopefully, he will continue on this path in the weeks and months to come.
