Marc McNulty has responded to criticism of his scoring record after securing his loan switch to Sunderland.
McNulty scored just one goal in 16 appearances for Reading last season, before netting seven in 15 appearances at Hibernian.
Some have suggested he isn’t at the required level for Sunderland – claims which the 26-year-old instantly refutes.
“I remember the first season I came down to Sheffield United,” he told the Sunderland Echo. “I was only 21, in and out the team, but I scored goals in League One then.
“I’m older now, more experienced and a better player now than I was then. I’m confident in myself and I don’t need to prove anything to anybody.
“I need to work hard, get my head down and repay the gaffer for bringing me here.”
Elsewhere, Bryan Oviedo has completed a permanent move to Danish side FC Copenhagen.
