Marinakis accosts Nuno in ‘scandalous’ scene after Nottingham Forest draw with Leicester

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis confronted Nuno Espirito Santo on the pitch following Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League.
The Greek shipping magnate entered the field of play at the City Ground after the full-time whistle to remonstrate with the manager.
A win would have seen Forest jump back into the top five and boost their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Uefa Champions League.
It was Leicester City, though, who took the lead after 15 minutes when Conor Coady followed through on a rasping shot from Bilal El Khannouss, which goalkeeper Mats Selz could only parry in the direction of the defender.
Morgan Gibbs-White cancelled out the opener in the 25th minute before Chris Wood put the hosts ahead in the second half. But Facundo Buonanotte slalomed through the Forest defence before firing in to level matters late on.
The Foxes may well have denied their Midlands rivals Champions League football, as they now sit in seventh place, a point outside the top five with just two games remaining. Their final day meeting with Chelsea at home may prove decisive, but they will have to beat West Ham United next weekend to ensure they are within touching distance by then. Regardless, the point has guaranteed them a place in Europe no matter what happens in the final two matches.
Marinakis was clearly deeply frustrated by the result, but the Forest owner drew criticism from Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher for his display.
“I feel compelled to mention that what the Nottingham Forest owner has just done on the pitch over at the City Ground is absolutely scandalous,” said Neville.
“If I were Nuno, I would be going and having a really strong word. That is an absolute scandal, he’s just qualified them for European competition.
“Where that club’s been, to be remonstrated with on the pitch in front of their own fans is an absolute joke.”
Carragher called for Marinakis to “get off the pitch”. “They have qualified for Europe. It’s unbelievable.”
