Newcastle United having played twenty three matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.

Thirteen wins, five draws and five defeats.

Now set to face Spurs away.

Mark Lawrenson speaking ahead of Spurs v Newcastle United:

“Newcastle are flying.

“They could have, and should have, beaten Manchester United by many more than the 2-0 final score.

“Tottenham used to be good at home but they’re all over the place and I fancy Newcastle to win which will just put more pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

“Newcastle’s three in midfield are so good and they’re a very, very difficult team to beat now.

“Prediction: Tottenham 1 Newcastle 2”

To be honest, I find it difficult to disagree with any of that.

Indeed, with Spurs having conceded 12 goals in their last three home Premier League matches, anybody looking at the form might be predicting an even bigger win for Eddie Howe’s side.

Interesting and amusing though to look at what Mark Lawrenson had to say in advance of Newcastle’s last two Premier League matches…

Ahead of the Manchester United 0 Newcastle United 2 game, Mark Lawrenson stated:

“Newcastle had that gift against Villa but this might be a bit of a stalemate.

“Prediction: Man U 1 Newcastle United 1”

Whilst before Newcastle 3 Aston Villa 0, Mark Lawrenson had this to say…:

“Newcastle have had a couple of big wins. But I’m going to side with Aston Villa. They’re back on the bus now and they’re a great side when they’re at it. Prediction: Newcastle 1 Aston Villa 2″

As you can see, Mark Lawrenson a ‘little’ late to the ‘Newcastle are flying’ party, it has taken him a five match NUFC winning run, with sixteen goals and only one conceded, to start now forecasting a United win.
