It has been a busy summer at Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais. Both clubs have overhauled their playing squad after falling significantly short of their objectives in Ligue 1 last time out.

Marseille have been busy refreshing their forward line, selling Iliman Ndiaye, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ismaila Sarr, and bringing in Elye Wahi and Mason Greenwood. Stade Rennais, meanwhile, have lost Martin Terrier, whilst Arnaud Kalimuendo could also yet leave the club.

The two clubs, who will both be looking to return to European competition for next season, are targeting the same player – Al-Ittihad’s Jota (25), as per a report from Mohamed Toubache-Ter. The Portuguese winger joined the Saudi Arabian side in a big-money move from Celtic last summer, however, he could already be set to depart after a difficult debut campaign.

Toubache-Ter understands that it is currently Rennes, who began their season with a win over Olympique Lyonnais, who are leading the race to sign Jota. A report from L’Équipe has suggested that, as of now, OM are focused on Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe (21).
