According to RMC Sport, Marseille’s option to buy in the deal they negotiated with Norwich to sign Jonathan Rowe (21) on loan until the end of the season is mandatory. This means that Les Phocéens will be forced to pay €16m for the England youth international, regardless of whether they would like to keep him at the Stade Vélodrome or not.

Rowe has struggled for opportunities since he signed for OM on loan in the summer transfer window. The English winger has only started 5 matches for the Ligue 1 club since Roberto De Zerbi convinced him to swap Norfolk for the South of France. Despite only starting 5 matches, the Englishman has impressed in the 577 minutes that have been afforded to him, scoring 3 goals and registering 2 assists.

Marseille look set to be frustrated by the mandatory purchase option. L’Équipe understands that Les Olympiens would like to offload the Norwich attacker due to a weakened view from Roberto De Zerbi in terms of the future the 21-year-old has at the club.
