Valencia CF drew 2-2 against Deportivo Alavés on Matchday 18 of the LALIGA EA Sports season, pulling level late on with a stoppage time equaliser from Dani Gómez.
The match took a turn for the worse from the early stages, as Carlos Martín met a backheel from Kike Garcia inside the box, and his shot ricocheted off both Dmitri Foulquier and he the Alavés player himself.
The first chance for Valencia CF came around the half-hour mark, with a shot from André Almeida from the edge of the area that went over the crossbar. Deportivo Alavés responded with a shot from point-blank range by Stoichkov, that Stole Dimitrievski stopped with a great save.
Just before the break, coach Rúben Baraja had to replace Fran Pérez due to a muscle problem. Sergi Canós came on and was on the verge of connecting with a Luis Rioja cross to the far post.
After the interval, the opening attack came from Hugo Duro, with a solo move that he tried to turn past Antonio Sivera off a pass from Javi Guerra. The collision between striker and goalkeeper led to Sivera being replaced by Jesus Owono between the sticks.
Owono brought down Diego López inside the area in an incident that was checked by VAR, with the penalty given by the referee. Luis Rioja tied the game from the spot, and Valencia CF sought victory in the final stretch.
In a scramble inside the area, Duro had an effort from point-blank range that Owono cleared. Alavés were very close to scoring an own goal off a cross from the right by Valencia CF, with Abqar clearing off the goalline..
In the 87th minute, after a foul given against Mosquera in the box, Joan Jordán made it 1-2 from the penalty spot.
Valencia CF reacted again in stoppage time, with Dani Gómez poking home a loose ball in the box to take the score to 2-2 before the end.
